The estate and exclusive use
Is my preferred date available?
Please enquire for availability, as this changes daily. Dates are only confirmed once deposit payments are received.
Is The Hidden Oak exclusive use?
Yes. All weddings and events have full exclusive use of the venue and grounds, so the estate is yours and yours alone for the day.
How many guests can the venue hold?
We can cater for a range of guest numbers, from intimate gatherings to large celebrations. Our capacity is 110 day guests and 150 evening guests.
How long do we have the venue for on the day?
We only have one event per day, with access all day depending on your needs.
How big is the estate?
The Hidden Oak sits in 200 acres of private grounds, including woodland we planted ourselves, landscaped gardens and two lakes.
Ceremonies and catering
Are you licensed for civil ceremonies?
Yes, offering outdoor locations and an indoor option. We are fully licensed and sit within Stockton-on-Tees registry office.
Can we have both the ceremony and reception here?
Yes. We offer a full start-to-finish service.
Do you offer twilight weddings?
Our Seedling Package offers a later start, with guest access from 3pm, from 30 guests.
Do you offer in-house catering, or can we bring our own?
Yes, included in all packages, with a tasting evening beforehand. Our in-house team offers a versatile menu built around your vision. We also offer external catering if you are looking for a particular cuisine or a specialist offering.
Can we do a menu tasting beforehand?
Yes. All couples have a complimentary tasting evening before confirming food selections.
Costs and payment
What's included in the hire price?
Exclusive hire of the venue, tables and chairs, table linen, and a fully licensed bar.
Are there different packages, and what do they include?
We have three set packages depending on guest numbers and dates, all including catering and a drinks offering.
How does the payment schedule work?
Four payments of 25%: a deposit to secure your date, then instalments nine months, six months and three months before the wedding.
Is VAT included in your prices?
Yes, VAT is included.
What is your cancellation or postponement policy?
All payments are non-refundable once the payment has been made.
Are there minimum spends on food or drink?
No, we do not have any minimum spends.
Do you charge corkage?
We do not currently offer corkage, but we can order any drinks on request.
Decor and logistics
Are we allowed to decorate? Any restrictions?
Yes, and we have no restrictions when it comes to decor. We do allow real candles.
Do you provide tables, chairs and linens?
Yes, all included in your hire.
Do you have a wedding coordinator?
Yes. You will deal with the same wedding coordinator the whole way through the process.
Is there parking on site?
Yes. We have ample space for parking, for guests and suppliers.
Do you have disabled access?
Yes. The full design of the space has taken this into consideration, and all areas are fully accessible.
When can suppliers arrive to set up?
We offer access from 6am on the morning of your wedding.
Do you have any recommended suppliers?
We can offer guidance on all suppliers for your day. Just ask and we will point you to the people we know and trust.
Entertainment and timings
Do you have a sound system, or do we need to hire one?
We have background speakers for throughout the day.
Can we bring a live band or DJ?
Yes. We have no restrictions on DJs or bands.
Is there a space for dancing?
Yes. We have a large dancefloor space that can open up into the courtyard.
Are there noise restrictions or a curfew?
We are licensed to serve until midnight.
Staying and the day itself
Is there on-site accommodation?
Yes, in the Farmhouse. Nine en-suite bedrooms that sleep 21 guests, with local stay options available for your extended guest list.
Is there a bridal suite?
Yes. We have a dedicated dressing room, the perfect space for the morning of your wedding.
Can we get ready on site?
Yes, a bright dressing room is available in the Farmhouse.
Do you have recommended hotels nearby?
If you require additional accommodation, we have a number of options within a 10-minute drive. See our Local Accommodation page for the full list.
Do you allow dogs?
Yes, we are proudly a pet-friendly wedding venue.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?
We can cater for all dietary requirements.
How many weddings do you host?
Over 50 weddings per year, and only ever one event per day.
Do you have public liability insurance?
Yes.
